General
Is RateCS really free?
Yes. Every feature is free: bans, Premier rating, FACEIT stats, the 10-player lobby check, match analysis, the Discord bot and the stream overlay. There is no premium tier. Instead of a paywall we use caching and fair limits.
Do I need an account?
No. Profile checks, player comparison and lobby checks work without an account. Signing in with Steam only unlocks the watchlist, automatic match import and the stream overlay.
Is RateCS safe for my account?
Yes. RateCS is a website that only reads public data and official interfaces. Nothing runs on your PC and nothing touches the game, so there is no VAC risk. When you sign in with Steam we never receive your password.
Data and matches
Where does the data come from?
Profile, bans, playtime and friend list come from the official Steam Web API, FACEIT values from the FACEIT Data API, Premier rating and performance values from the Leetify Public API.
Match analysis (scoreboard, kill feed, rounds, clutches, utility, chat) comes from demos that Valve provides for matchmaking games. The demo is deleted right after analysis; only the statistics are kept.
How do matches get to RateCS?
A signed-in user connects their match history (Steam authentication code plus latest share code). RateCS then loads new matches automatically, fetches the scoreboard from the Game Coordinator and analyses the demo.
We store the statistics of all 10 players in a match. That is why a player can show matches that a teammate imported, not the player themselves.
Why is a match missing?
We only have matches that a RateCS user imported. Valve keeps demos for about 30 days; older matches can no longer be analysed. Sometimes Valve does not provide a demo at all, then only the scoreboard is available.
FACEIT and Leetify matches are loaded live from their interfaces and are not stored.
Is the authentication code a Steam Guard code?
No. The code only allows fetching the list of your matchmaking matches. Nobody can sign in, buy or change anything with it. We store it encrypted.
You can remove it in your account at any time or generate a new code at Steam, which invalidates the old one.
Why are values sometimes not up to date?
To keep the site free and within the interface limits we cache responses briefly: the Steam profile for a few minutes, bans for 15 minutes, FACEIT ELO for about 5 minutes, FACEIT and Leetify stats for about 10 minutes. If a service is down, we show the last known state with a notice.
Trust Score and metrics
What is the Trust Score?
A value from 0 to 100 built from public signals such as bans, account age, playtime, Steam level, banned friends and performance values. Every factor is shown with an explanation and its points.
Does a low Trust Score mean misconduct?
No. The score is a statistical estimate, not proof. Common harmless reasons for a low value: a new or rarely used account, a private profile, few matches (small sample) or simply a very strong player whose values are far above average.
We mark unusual values as “unusual”, never as proof. Please never judge a player by the score alone.
Where do the ban notices come from?
Steam reports VAC and game bans, including the days since the last ban. Steam does not say in which game or match a ban happened. FACEIT bans come from FACEIT. Our ban tracker detects new bans hourly for watched players.
Privacy and removal
Which data does RateCS store about me?
Public profile data (name, avatar, account age, bans), a history of your public values and match statistics from demos you took part in, including in-game chat. We do not store IP addresses. The details are in the privacy policy.
I do not want to appear on RateCS. What can I do?
Submit a request on the “Removal” page; it is fastest if you sign in with the affected Steam account first. After review we hide your profile everywhere and delete stored profile data, history and your chat messages. In other players' scoreboards you are hidden.
The removal is permanent and also applies to future matches.
Why is in-game chat shown?
Chat is part of the match demo and helps to understand a match. We filter slurs and personal details such as phone numbers, email addresses, IP addresses and links. A removal request deletes all of your messages.
Tools
How do I check my whole lobby?
On the lobby page, paste the link to your FACEIT match room or the output of the console command status. You get every player with bans, ranks and Trust Score at once.
Can I show my stats on stream?
Yes. Sign in with Steam, design the overlay and add the URL in OBS as a browser source. It updates itself without flickering and shows changes after every match.
Is there a Discord bot?
Yes. Use /check for single players and /lobby for a whole lobby, right in Discord. Invite: ratecs.com/discord
